My Books

The books of Majken Lorelei Matzau stacked on a pedestal

Over the past two decades, I have authored five books exploring leadership, stress, coaching, consciousness, and human development, and I am currently working on my sixth, The Warrior’s Collapse.

Although each book stands on its own, together they reflect the evolution of my work – from pioneering new approaches to stress coaching and executive development to exploring consciousness, human nature, and the hidden psychological landscapes that shape our lives.

My written works include:

The

Writing

My first three books became bestsellers and introduced groundbreaking methods for working with stress, leadership, and coaching.

Their practical and psychologically grounded approaches challenged conventional thinking and helped reshape how stress coaching and executive development were practiced by professionals and organizations alike.

With The Song of the Universe – A Soul Journey, my writing took a different direction. Published under my artist name, Lorelei, the book explores the deeper dimensions of human consciousness through a unique blend of cosmology, psychology, and spirituality.

My forthcoming book, The Inner Life of a CEO – Behind Closed Boardroom Doors, opens the door to one of the world's most private professions. Drawing on decades of confidential work with CEOs, owners, and board members, it offers a rare glimpse into the psychological realities of executive leadership – the ambitions, fears, loneliness, identity struggles, and defining moments that rarely leave the boardroom.

Currently I am working on my sixth book, exploring why so many highly successful leaders go through burnout, and how the experience can become the catalyst for profound personal transformation, enabling them to return as more conscious, authentic, and brilliant leaders.

The Inner Life of a CEO

– Behind Closed Boardroom Doors

The Inner Life of a CEO is not another leadership book. It is a mirror, held up to one of the most powerful and often loneliest positions in modern working life.

The further we climb, the harder it becomes to hide from the person we have always been. Power exposes what has long remained hidden: old wounds and protective strategies that once helped us survive, but now quietly shape how we lead.

Drawing on more than twenty-five years of confidential work with CEOs, owners, and board members, psychologist and executive advisor Majken Lorelei Matzau invites the reader behind closed boardroom doors, into conversations about identity, fear, perfectionism, grief, and the loneliness that accompanies power.

Some leaders lose themselves in power. Others discover that their greatest crisis becomes the beginning of a more conscious way of leading, and living.

When the patterns that have governed us for decades are finally understood and healed, they reconnect us with something no title can bestow: our innate dignity.

The Song of the Universe is unlike any other book.

It is a ceremonial journey, an invitation to step beyond ordinary consciousness and enter fifteen immersive soul journeys designed to awaken your deepest nature.

Each chapter opens into a guided meditative experience. You are invited into a symbolic landscape where ancient trees sing your forgotten names, gardens of the soul bloom beyond time, and luminous pillars of light become gateways into your own inner universe.

Every journey contains an initiation, designed to release old energetic patterns and karmic limitations while opening new dimensions of awareness, clarity, and inner freedom. As they unfold, you are invited to reconnect with the timeless essence beneath personality, history, and fear.

The imagery is poetic and deeply symbolic. Yet beneath it lies a simple invitation: to remember who you truly are.

Real Men Break Too

– Understanding Stress, Burnout, and the Hidden Cost of Strength

Real Men Break Too explores the hidden reality of stress in men's lives.

Far beyond a book about burnout, it examines what happens when ambitious, high-performing men spend years overriding the signals from their own nervous system. Behind outward success often lies an inner life marked by relentless pressure and emotional suppression, until the body eventually refuses to carry the burden any longer.

Drawing on years of therapeutic work with leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals, the book explains why stress develops, why so many men fail to recognize it until it becomes overwhelming, and why conventional advice so often falls short.

At its core, this is a step-by-step guide through burnout itself: from the first warning signs, through the collapse that so often follows, to genuine, lasting recovery. It challenges the enduring myths surrounding stress and offers a clear path forward, so readers emerge not weakened, but stronger, more self-aware, and more whole.

Written with warmth and deep clinical experience, it offers a compassionate guide through one of the defining challenges of modern working life.

Stress Free in Twelve Weeks

– Break Free from Stress and Reclaim Your Life

(Stressfri på tolv uger eller mer')

Stress Free in Twelve Weeks is not another quick fix for stress. It is a new way of understanding it.

For decades, stress has been treated as a personal flaw, the result of low self-esteem or a perfectionism that needs fixing. Drawing on years of clinical experience, psychologist Majken Lorelei Matzau shows that this belief is not only wrong, but actively makes stress worse. Stress is not a personality defect. It is the body's honest response to an increasingly complex and demanding world.

Written especially for women navigating the particular pressures of modern life, the book combines a clear, evidence-based understanding of stress with practical, step-by-step guidance for recovery through every phase, from the first warning signs to a full and lasting return to balance.

Because rushing recovery only slows it down. True healing comes not from trying harder, but from rest, self-trust, and rebalancing the responsibility and influence we carry in both our working and personal lives.

Grounded in real clinical insight, the book offers women, and the professionals who support them, a compassionate path back to calm, clarity, and themselves.

Stresscoaching

– The Art of Providing the Right Answers

Stresscoaching – The Art of Providing the Right Answers is a sharp challenge to one of the fastest-growing trends in modern working life. Stress coaching has spread like wildfire, yet according to psychologist and executive advisor Majken Lorelei Matzau, serious stress cannot simply be coached away.

Companies, therapists, and those suffering from stress themselves continue to treat it as a personal problem, conveniently fixed with a little coaching and better time management. Matzau argues this approach is not just misguided, it is dangerous, though stress also holds a profound opportunity for growth.

Severe stress, the book argues, closely resembles psychological trauma from war, loss, and disaster, and must be treated as a serious psychological crisis. When an employee breaks down from work-related stress, responsibility lies first and foremost with the organization. Stress is a leadership issue, not merely a personal one.

At its core, the book offers a groundbreaking approach in which leadership, crisis intervention, and coaching work hand in hand, because before we can lead others through stress, we must first learn to lead ourselves.
